Self-Defense and Karate for Teens & Adults

Learn about and register for classes through Santa Cruz Parks & Recreation

Fitness – Self-Defense – Confidence

Taught as a traditional martial art, students will learn the basics of karate with the emphasis on self-defense techniques and strategies in a safe and enjoyable environment. This is not children’s playtime activity; this class welcomes adults and serious teens age 13 and up.

Along with effective techniques and a great workout, students will learn the basics of an elegant ancient art. All techniques are explained and demonstrated to help students at every skill level achieve and enjoy. Classes include stretching, karate basics and qigong exercises. Beginners are welcome to join each section – or you can attend more than one section and keep learning!

Classes are taught exclusively by Oakstrong Martial Arts and our senior instructor Neville Loberg. Go to The Art for details on the aspects of the art, and Classes for descriptions of all our teachings.

Bring water to drink and wear loose sports clothing / gym shoes – no special equipment needed. Kindly be on time – class starts promptly.

There are two class sections – register for one or both – beginners and continuing students are welcome at the start of any class section. For each class section, registration will close on the first day of class for that section.
